Get fit, have fun and grow your social circle with a cardio exercise class
The benefits of regular exercise are well known. A reduced risk of heart disease and stroke, the lowering of high blood pressure and improved cholesterol rates can all be attributed to working out more frequently, as well as many additional perks. But did you know that group cardio exercise classes can also be an excellent opportunity to meet new people? While many of these classes operate on a drop-in basis in that you can attend when time permits, you are likely to encounter many of the same people each week, developing new relationships before you know it.
Cardio exercise classes come in a variety of different shapes and sizes, suited to every fitness level and interest group. To help you to decide which would help you the most in your quest for fitness and for friendship, here is some additional information:
Aerobic or step classes are popular ways to increase your cardiovascular endurance and to shed any unwanted pounds. As music is pumped into the room, you will follow an instructor in a variety of different movement designed to quickly burn calories. You are likely to find classes of differing skill levels, providing a way in for a beginner and a more advanced option for an expert.
With dance classes you could learn to strut your stuff on the dance floor whilst burning up some calories from lunch. From salsa to hip-hop, disco to wedding dance
Many different cycling classes such as spinning offer a great calorie-burning and fitness-building potential. While you might find yourself too out of breath to chat during the exercise itself there’s also sure to be many conversations before and after. The options on offer are varied and suited to a wide range of different skill levels so do some research on your local gyms to find the best choice for you.
If you are looking to tone your body you might consider strength classes that incorporate hand weights and other strategies into the mix, toning the areas of your body that you could like to see improvement in. Developing your muscles will help you to burn fat more effectively, and as these classes tend to attract more serious athletes you are likely to meet some like-minded individuals here.
Such a range of different cardio classes may make the choice as to which to attend difficult. Don’t be afraid of trying several to see what suits you best. You may even wish to extend your trials to other forms of exercise such as yoga

Zumba is a fantastic way to get fit, make friends and have loads of fun. When you dance the music is great you don't realise you are burning lots of calories. Zumba is energetic and good for your mind as it creates feel good hormones in your body. It lifts your mood, you smile and giggle at yourself and its great. Give it a go. I hate exercising be it in a gym, running outside in the cold etc. Bored trying to workout in front of a dvd. I discovered Zumba and it changed my life, changed my body shape drastically, lost all the baby weight I was carrying around for ages. Going to classes let me forget about the housework for a short while. I go home with a smile on my face and spring in my step.
